Start with the experience
A Kenya trip can centre on elephant-and-wetland interests at Amboseli, Mara grasslands, a southern Tsavo route or a northern conservation circuit. Those are different holidays even within one country. Write down the landscape and daily rhythm you want before comparing national labels.
Tanzania likewise needs a specific itinerary. A Serengeti visit should identify the relevant region and camp sequence, while other parks add their own habitats and transfers. The migration does not make every Serengeti-area camp appropriate for every month.

Use dates honestly
Rainfall and wildlife movement influence the experience, but they do not turn a country into a guaranteed good or bad choice for an entire month. Compare the exact regions and the operator’s current information.
For migration interest, remember that the southern calving areas are in Tanzania and a river crossing cannot be guaranteed on either side. If your dates are fixed, ask which destination provides a worthwhile safari even when the headline event does not happen.

Put quotations on the same basis
Ask both operators to list nights, accommodation basis, meals, vehicle use, group size, park entries, conservancy or concession charges, transfers and taxes. A per-person headline rate can hide different occupancy and inclusions.
Kenya’s verified tariff figures on this site are not a substitute for a complete Tanzania quote. We have not established a universal current cost advantage for either country. Compare the same travel dates, service level and usable safari days rather than a low-season shared trip against a private peak-season package.

Transport and the border
A short itinerary can lose useful days through airport changes, long roads and border processing. If combining countries, name the legal crossing, the vehicle or flight changes and the document requirements. Ecological continuity does not mean tourists can cross wherever animals do.
Beach extensions need the same care. Identify the actual airport, station, island or resort transfer and any additional entry or visitor requirements. Do not attach a coastal stage merely because both countries have an ocean on the map.

Which choice fits your trip?
Choose Kenya when the Kenyan park mix and onward connections fit your interests. Choose Tanzania when its particular route and seasonal region are the stronger match.
Choose both only when the additional comparison and variety justify the transport and border time. There is no loss of completeness in spending a first safari in one country.
Keep country entry separate from park admission
A national entry authorisation and a protected-area ticket are different documents. Ask which border formalities, park payments and transfers the package actually handles. A safari quotation covering accommodation in both countries should not leave responsibility for the connecting border or flight unexplained.
Questions & answers
Which country is cheaper?
There is no verified universal answer. Compare matched dates, inclusions, group size and the complete route.
Do I need both for the migration?
No. Choose the region appropriate to your dates and conditions, with no guaranteed crossing.
Does Kenya entry approval cover Tanzania?
Do not assume it does. Tanzania’s entry process must be checked separately through its official authorities.
Can I compare packages using only the number of safari days?
No. Match the nights, accommodation locations, vehicle arrangements, park entries and transfers before comparing totals.
